I don’t know about you guys, but I OBSESS about what my family is going to wear for our annual family photos! Photo sessions are crazy expensive and you don’t want to look like you just thought of an outfit last-minute. Since I feel that I am practically a professional about this, I thought you guys would appreciate some insight, so I’ve decided to show you some of my favorite picks for women’s mix & match outfits for fall family photos. Shop them down below!
Women’s Mix & Match outfits that are
perfect for fall family photos
Be prepared, well thought-out, and feel confident in your investment! Â Sometimes families send these pictures out in Holiday cards, or annual newsletters to friends and family, and it’s time to look and feel your best. Â Yes, even if you have to bribe the kids with candy to put on the clothes you’ve picked out and to trudge through the photo shoot(yep, it’s been done a million times by others, and I can vouch for being one of em’)! Â It worked, too!!! It’s also genius for any photographer who hands out candy after every few pics, to keep the kids motivated and full of smiles! Genius, I say.
Give yourself plenty and I do mean PLENTY of time to choose the outfits, like 1 or 2 months in advance, especially if you have children & your significant other to shop for.  This way, if there’s an item that’s out of stock in a store, you need to allow for shipping time to arrive to your house, or if you don’t find what you want right away, you still have plenty of options to look elsewhere or online. Once you’ve selected some  great options, go home and lay them out on your bed or floor for each person, so you can see how they will look and if they will compliment the other family members.  This way you can swap out items if need be.  I seriously will buy about 3 options for each person, then go home and lay them out, and once I have decided what is going to look the best, I return the other items I choose not to be in the photos. If you or anyone else has a cute hat that would look good in the pictures, take some photos without the hat(s) on and put them on toward the end of the shoot, so you can capture some great pictures without messing up your hair(also pray that it’s not a windy day, if they are outside)………… Typically if it’s raining, your photographer should work with you on rescheduling them.  The first 2 pictures, above  were last year’s family pics, and here are a few photos, below, throughout the years with my family, for reference.
Don’t dismiss good staple pieces. Â I consider these to be: scarves, denim jackets, vests, mens sport coats, fashion belts, and booties/tall boots for women. Don’t worry about wearing much jewelry(unless it’s a pop of color that you need), keep it simple, because you don’t want the photograph looking too busy!
Have fun & dont forget to SMILE!!!!!
Great tips. We just had our family pictures taken and it took us about a month to find the colors we wanted for everyone.
Thank you, yes it takes a looooong time! I wonder if my husband were in charge what he would pick out. lol that should be a funny meme 🙂
