Where to Eat, Sleep & Play in Nashville-Part Two
As you can imagine, there are so many venues with live music to visit at night, but I swear we listened to 2 of the best bands in Nashville, and why they are not famous, is just plain ridiculous! These bands had so much talent and amazing voices, it would blow you away! We were lucky enough to walk into one bar where The Mad Hatters Finest were playing, and when the female singer of the band began singing, I literally got chills all over me! WOW!! You can find them on Facebook or their website at www.themadhattersfinest.com I would definitely challenge her voice to Pink or Carrie Underwood, it was that awesome! Another amazing band we listened to at Whiskey Bent Saloon was Bryan Wain. You can find him at www.bryanwain.net. He could sing some mean Johnny Cash and incredible George Strait songs, but even had some of his own music, too. His voice was again, amazing! If you’ve never been to Nashville, downtown is like a cowboy’s Las Vegas. There are bars upon bars lined up next to each other, tons of people and almost all with live music in them. You can even find a delicious candy shop that makes some incredible pecan pralines, and some knickknacks swag, touristy shops.
Above is the Nashville party bike, where you literally just bike around the streets and drink! FUN!!!
My husband and I both being golfers, we decided to head to the brand new Top Golf on the east side of the city. That, by far was one of the most fun things we did while there. Again, expect a good wait, but the earlier you get there, the less of a wait. They have a full restaurant, areas to have birthday parties, and TV’s galore! When you get there, you get all checked in at the front desk for your golf game, and they give you a pager that goes off when your “bay” is ready. Then, out they walk you to one of the 3 outside driving range levels that have heaters if you need them(it was a tad chilly so we turned ours on). Each bay has their own clubs for both men & women, and you can select which style of game you’d like to play, and you literally wave your club in front of the automatic ball release and out comes your ball on the mat! GENIUS…. Your goal is to hit it into these huge targets that are built into the ground, out in front of you and you get points when your ball goes in. At night, they light up different colors, which just look so cool. Top Golf stays open crazy late at night, so this would make for the perfect first date place!!!! You can order drinks to be delivered to you and food as well. I only wished I had thought of creating this Franchise!!! It’s such a great place to go year round, because you can simply turn on the heaters in the winter time, and if it’s raining, you are have a roof over your head, so you won’t be getting wet!
Where to Sleep in Nashville
We stayed at the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel, which was on Broadway. I scored a great nightly rate off of www.priceline.com. It was conveniently located a mile from downtown Broadway, and extremely close to the Gulch area. The hotel, itself, had a modern vibe, and warm ambiance. They had a gorgeous see-thru modern fireplace down in the lobby area. The check in was simple and fast, and we were pleased to find out that there was a free hotel car that would take us anywhere or pick us up within a 3 mile radius! This saved us from a lot of Ubers!!! Since we drove to Nashville, we just used their on-site parking garage, which was easy to get in and out of when we did need to drive somewhere.
Our room was modern with a bit of music feel to it, spacious tiled showers and nicely lit vanity for getting ready. It was very clean, the elevators were fast, and they did have a gym in the hotel, all a plus! The rooms did seem to not have much insulation between the rooms(which I think goes for a lot of hotels), so if you are a light sleeper, pack some ear plugs or bring a sound machine. It wasn’t too bad, however because all the walking around we had done each day, left us exhausted each night! The beds were absolutely one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in and there seemed to be 2 different fills of pillows also. I am very picky when it comes to hotel beds, and if this hotel had one reason to stay there, its their beds! Oh and their “oh so comfortable” bathrobes. There’s several things I look for when I stay in a hotel. 1) Comfy beds, 2) Clean, 3) Blackout Curtains, 4) bathroom fan(which it didn’t have, but that’s ok), 5) conveniently located and 6) quiet rooms.
The bar downstairs was spacious and had some great bartenders! They had sofa areas to lounge on, high cocktail tables or regular tables to eat at as well, and attached the ceiling above the bar were tons and tons of Mason jars made into lights. So Neat!!!! To my surprise, they had two different flavored Moscow Mules ON TAP!!!! WHAT!!!!! We happened to hit happy hour one night and had some incredible appetizers. They did have a restaurant across the hall, which we did not eat at, but it looked extremely nice!
We had a blast in Nashville, and can’t wait to visit there again. If you want great food and entertainment, Nashville is your place! There is so much to do! We didnt visit Opryland, the Bridgestone Arena or the Country Music Hall of Fame, but perhaps we will visit them next trip! Thanks for checking out my post!!!
